Personal

Dr. Feichtenschlager is from Perchtoldsdorf, Austria. He moved to San Francisco in June 2017, where he now lives with his beautiful daughter. Outside of research, he has a keen interest in photography with a particular focus on American culture and sports. He particularly enjoys walking in the park with his daughter and taking photos of fans at the local baseball stadium.

Research Focus

Dr. Feichtenschlager underwent medical training at the Medical University of Vienna, followed by clinical training in Dermatology, Internal Medicine and Surgery. After conducting several clinical research projects in the field of dermato-oncology at the Rudolfstiftung Hospital in Vienna, supported by a research grant from the Austrian foundation “Verein fuer Dermatologie und Venerologie”, he joined the lab of Susana Ortiz-Urda as a post-doctoral fellow at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Feichtenschlager’s work focuses on transcriptomic and phospho-catalytic dependencies triggered through cancer driving mutations in melanoma with a focus on NRAS mutant specific upregulation of lncRNA transcripts that can be used as targets for the development of future therapeutics of metastatic and treatment resistant melanoma.
