Researcher

Yee Peng Phoon, PhD

Cleveland Clinic

Dr. Phoon’s research focuses on cancer immunotherapy and cancer biology. Her key goals are to study immunotherapy resistance, identify biomarker signatures, and develop a predictive model in melanoma.  One of the major challenges in patient care management is the ability to administer the right treatment modalities with sustainable outcomes. To tailor suitable therapy, we need reliable biomarker profiles and platforms predicting ICI response, which remains a pressing challenge in the field. Dr. Phoon aims to develop a less invasive blood-based predictive tool by utilizing an RNA-flow cytometry-based platform, which integrates RNA hybridization and flow cytometry analysis. The identification of new predictive biomarkers and development of a minimally invasive blood-based predictive tool, will enhance the ICI response prediction and improve treatment decision making for melanoma patients.
